A pale satinwood staff is topped with a horse's head made from pure white silk. The outlines of the eyes, nose, mouth and ears were stitched with black embroidery thread and then paint was skillfully used to fill-in the various details and shadings. A soft flowing mane was crafted from real horse's hair.
