On the cloth covered table you see a
dark mahogany psaltery inlaid in silver with the image of a dancing ram, a
white ironwood cistre carved with the image of a wren perched on a fisted gauntlet,
an ebony-edged rosewood violin
with a carved ebony bridge and pegs, a
silver maple recorder painted in gold leaf with the image of a rising phoenix,
a polished silver cornet engraved
with tiny roses amidst blooming jasmine, a
thin silver flute banded with engraved gold strips displaying tiny in-flight songbirds,
some petrified teak bones highlighted
with veins of raw zircon, a damaru
carved from ivory to resemble two trekhalo skulls and lashed together with wax-dyed
cotton and a pale willow doumbec
banded with stippled brass rings.
