On the cloth covered table you see a dark mahogany psaltery inlaid in silver with the image of a dancing ram, a white ironwood cistre carved with the image of a wren perched on a fisted gauntlet, an ebony-edged rosewood violin with a carved ebony bridge and pegs, a silver maple recorder painted in gold leaf with the image of a rising phoenix, a polished silver cornet engraved with tiny roses amidst blooming jasmine, a thin silver flute banded with engraved gold strips displaying tiny in-flight songbirds, some petrified teak bones highlighted with veins of raw zircon, a damaru carved from ivory to resemble two trekhalo skulls and lashed together with wax-dyed cotton and a pale willow doumbec banded with stippled brass rings.
