A wide strip has been torn from the center of the painting, with the ragged ends pasted together in the middle of the frame to create a strange pastoral scene indeed. The farmyard depicted on the resulting picture makes it look as though a wagon is being drawn by a chicken, a farmer is shoveling away pieces of the barn, as well as a pig wallowing in the branches of a tree.
