Star rubies -- deep red coated with a faint milky haze -- glint in the wolf's eyes, the six-rayed star forming its pupils. Spiral channels in the onyx hilt carry blood away from the blade to keep the user's hand from slipping. The darkened steel blade is formed in an undulating flamberge pattern, sharpened on both sides near the very tip. This is no utilitarian eating knife, nor a lordling's play-toy, but a polished tool made to find and exploit the weakness in a foe's armor.
