Thick rope has been tied across the spiraled stairway that is carved with ladybugs, effectively blocking off access to the loft above. Patterned with multicolored ladybugs in iridescent thread, two black velvet wingback chairs and a matching settee are carefully arranged mid-center of the living room. At the back of the room, a three-tiered glass table holds an assortment of crystal figurines with the shapes of various animals found throughout the lands.

Irregular chunks of fieldstone, fitted together like giant puzzle pieces, gird the oversized frame of this tall building. High ceilings only serve to amplify the industrious clatter in this cluttered room. Attendants dart in and out, measuring cords draped around their necks, carrying various bits of armor to be tried on or properly adjusted to fit the clientele. [The Beast Within Costume Shop]
Streamers hang from the rafters, waving in the light breeze which swirls through the eves of this cheerful shop. Colorful murals cover the white-washed walls, depicting revelers dressed as beasts and monsters. Two huge carved figures, a grizzly bear and a storm giant, stand in the center of the room holding a variety of masks. You also see a pumpkin orange door and a little sign written in gold ink.

A massive grizzly bear, carved from a gnarled modwir tree, stands upright, his shaggy muzzle open in a happy grin. The ursine statue offers a collection of animal masks, which dangle from each of his wooden paws.

The carver has used a block of solid oak to create a huge storm giant dressed in traditional kilt and bracers. Tribal tattoos, painted on the giant's muscled oaken chest, continue down his powerful arms and girdle his abdomen. The giant's noble visage is carved in an uncharacteristic grin, and his extended arms bear not weapons, but a variety of masks.

The heady aromas of cloves and apples are nearly overpowering in this cramped space cunning carved from the interior of the apple tree. A massive iron stove, rust-covered and blackened, crowds the center of the room, with a scarred worktable, bench, and oak barrel vying for the remaining space. In the far corner, a row of crude wooden pegs displays a variety of used kitchen items.

This ample rectangular chamber boasts arenose wall coverings that appear more than a bit frayed at the bottom. A thin layer of dust clings steadfastedly to all fixtures, as if claiming the shop for its own powdery world. You also see a set of bronze hooks with some stuff on it and a plain mahogany armoire.

[Better Protections, Entrance]
Smooth, large stones form the walls of this rather large room, keeping the air cool even when the air is warm outside. A thick layer of dust covers the floors and tables. Large windows in the room give off a diffuse light from outside because there is so much grime on them that one can't see a discernible thing through them. Dust bunnies crowd each of the corners since the floors haven't been swept in years. The rafters have partial cobwebs so full of dust that they hang in globs. You also see an iron armor stand with some stuff on it and a steel armor stand with some stuff on it.

[Better Protections, Front Room]
The look of this room years ago would have been elegant. The dust and cobwebs have taken over and makes everything look a bit shabby. Cobwebs drop from the rafters down to the tables in the corners. Lacy patterns are evident in the dust on the tabletops where the breeze has blown the cobwebs around. The sofa and chairs look almost inviting but the colors of the material can't been seen under the thick cover of dust. You also see a heavy oaken wardrobe and an overturned metal chest with some stuff on it.

[Better Protections, Side Room]
Tapestries cover most of the floor and walls in this rather large room. Once upon a time they were probably colorful and told stories of brave knights and beautiful ladies but all that can be seen now are the muted colors of dust and grime and a few motheaten edges. Large chests are scattered across the floor in no particular pattern. You also see a wooden slat and a scarred and worn wooden worktable with some stuff on it.

[A Slate-roofed Stone Cottage]
Sturdily constructed of wood and stone, a modest slate-roofed cottage stands forlornly on this small lot. Horizontal shutters on both sides of the door yawn open, the bottom halves propped on wooden legs to form a pair of shelves, and the upper sections, held aloft by rusted iron rods, serve as makeshift awnings. In the yard lies the skeleton of a large dog, still tethered to a stout peg, a loop of rope tied to its rotted leather collar. A pole-mounted brass lantern illuminates both sign and walkway. You also see a slate-paved walk.

[Bladesmith's Cottage, Main Bay]
Divided into two bays and a loft, the interior of the cottage appears to be more shop than living space. Illuminated by verdigrised brass lanterns, a treadled grindstone occupies one corner of this roomy main area opposite a solid trestle workbench. Various tools hang by decaying leather cords from pegs in the roof trusses. Centrally situated, a conical hood and metal chimney are suspended above a raised stone fire pit. An anvil sits nearby, separated from the hearth by a large wood and hide bellows. You also see a wobbly wooden ladder.

[Bladesmith's Cottage, Loft]
Overlooking the main bay, the loft is quite cramped. The slant of the roof beams makes only the peaked center area practical for standing fully erect. Nearest the eaves on one side of the room, a blanket-covered straw pallet sits atop a low frame, while a small table with a three-legged stool leans against the back wall. A squat oil lamp burns dimly atop the table, its smoky flame blackening the slate above. Opposite the bed, a chest and short cabinet line the wall. You also see a wobbly wooden ladder.

[Bladesmith's Cottage, Rear Bay]
Once the cooking area, this section of the cottage has succumbed to an encroachment of tools and weaponry in various states of repair. The table, sideboard, and even the twin cauldrons of the great stone fireplace have become receptacles for the bladesmith's wares. Set high in both the north and south-facing walls are four smallish square windows, each with its own stopper-like hinged shutter that hangs from the bottom sill. [Boniface Inn, Common Room]
A massive rock fireplace dominates the common room, nearly filling the far wall with its girth. A staircase climbs the eastern wall, and a thick black felt curtain hangs discreetly in the recessed area beneath it. Facing the staircase is a long oaken bar fronted by several stools for socializing, and tucked into the far corner is a pair of quiet tables for patrons requiring more privacy. You also see a large silver drink cart with some stuff on it and a basket of sticks.

Enclosed on three sides by walls of polished cedar, the workshop is open to the outdoors on the fourth side, by means of a rolled-up heavy canvas flap. The rear wall of the shop is home to a long workbench, with a variety of woodworking tools spread on its surface and hung on the wall above. Shards of sunlight stab through the overcast sky, racing across the hard-packed dirt floor, and the occasional leaf is blown in from the lawn outside. You also see a carved wooden sign, a tall pegged wooden stand with some stuff on it, an oversized wicker basket, a flame-etched copper bin, an acid-etched green painted bin, a rhimar-lined steel bin and a bolt-etched silver bin.

Faded and dull mahogany beams line the walls and ceiling, some cracked and slightly splitting, defining the shop as old and neglected. The plaster set within the timbered structuring has mellowed to a rich ivory color and wears a thin, oily coating of dust. Splitting off in two divergent directions, openings at the back lead to other equally dimly lit rooms. The only attempt to make things more welcoming is a low, round vase filled with fresh mournblooms.

At the heart of the floor sits a round table topped with glass, and beside it is a small parchment sign on a wrought iron stand.

This same wooden table bears a small scribbled note which hints the domestic chaos might not be the result of pillage or invasion. You also see an open door and a steep staircase.

Rows of men's and women's gloves are laid out neatly on a sideboard. Clothing hangs from the polished beams in orderly rows. Pots of pink geraniums grace a brightly painted bench. The aroma of gingerbread and hot cider wafts from the brass and iron woodstove. You also see a brightly painted green door with a stenciled sign on it and a steep staircase.

Cushioned rattan chairs encircle a matching table laden with an intricately worked silver tray. Opaque netting drapes the porch giving it an indoor feel while allowing the wan light of the moon to add its glow to the iron candelabra that stand on opposite corners. A cluster of tailor dummies each wearing different sets of armor stand in one corner of the porch, under the dim light they look to be moving, albeit slowly, giving the appearance that they house some sentient being. You also see an important sign and some steps.

Moonlight shines down, dimly lighting the mass of roses and climbing vines. Night fairly wraps the path up in darkness, the walkway leading from a tall wooden gate to a looming building barely visible.

Tiny in terms of space, this shop is cluttered, with a long and sturdy rack, several wooden shelves, and a tall dresser taking up most of the area. Fraying curtains drape across the dusty windows, allowing in only minute motes of moonlight. Just next to a rickety set of stairs is a low wooden table. As if to add a touch of love and care to the otherwise bare surroundings, pink flowers have been painted along the edges of a narrow door and each of the furnishings.

As if from some spectral censer, the faintest hint of jasmine haunts the air, and the warmth emanating from the fire in the hearth on the far wall adds a smoky hint to the sweetness. Polished oak boards provide the flooring for this shop, though the newness of their veneer has been scuffed away by footsteps and furniture moves alike. Brushed silver sconces line the walls, topped with candles of pale ivory that burn with a constant fervency, causing a riot of shadows to play across the ceiling. On the furthermost wall from the arched entry is a portrait of a yellow-haired youth. His blue eyes have been rendered with such detail that they seem almost to dance with mischief above the slight smile curling his lips. You also see a willowy maoral mannequin with some stuff on it and a dark thanot mannequin with some stuff on it.

Across the abraded oaken floor, a myriad of wooden toys have been strewn, as if thrown down in the midst of play. A small wooden rolton with a tail of unwound twine has fallen over, and a miniature sword of smooth haon bears a tiny crimson handprint on its simply carved hilt. High on the back wall is a thin wooden shelf, and upon it is a conical silver incense holder, leaking wisps of jasmine-scented smoke. In the far corner sits a wrought iron-legged oaken sewing table, which is lined with small tins of buttons, thread spools, and needles. Beside it is a chair of comparable make, but it sits askew as if its former occupant rose in a hurry. Within reach of the table, in a basket set to the side, are swathes of fabric, both vibrant in hue and rich in weave. [Field Gear, Entry]
Large octagonal bay windows overlook the street below. Polished fel wood paneling reflects warm candlelight fram a pair of silver sconces on either side of a massive ebonwood door. Across the room is a set of stairs leading down.

[Caelis' Shields]
Gleaming fel wood panels carved with battle scenes give this room a distinctly martial air. Carefully fitted and jointed without nails, dark ebonwood crown molding carved with tiny battlements runs around the borders of the room's ceiling. A series of hooks along one wall are laden with shields of all sizes. You also see a large fel chest.

Stretching from floor to ceiling along an entire wall, a massive shadowy dragon is shown crouching low over an entire village with wings outspread. An elegant lady, clad in flowing robes, stands on a lone tower in the center of the village, her arms raised. Tiny villagers lie in the streets, some of the carved faces shown as half-skulls.
Hundreds of heavily armored knights bearing greatswords are depicted storming up the ramp of a citadel. Mastery of the carving art is readily apparent in the fine detailing of the stone crenellations and the flaking rust of the castle's wrecked portcullis.

The tabletops are festooned with a plethora of baskets that proudly display their wares. Beyond the curtained windows, the rich foliage of a small walled garden is sunk in shadow. The tidy parlor of this charming cottage is divided into two distinct halves. A bay window with a view to the west contains a sitting area with upholstered chairs, a large fieldstone fireplace nearby. The opposite end of the room is maintained as a small shop, with black-draped displays and scented candles burning. A narrow slip of a shop, the wares are cramped for space. Various counters and tables line both of the longer walls, and a curtained alcove at the far end parallels the front door. Copper sconces filled with jasmine-scented oil glow warmly and are mounted well above the burgundy silk wall hangings.

A thin aisle traverses the length of the small store, passing between counters and tables bearing displays of makeup. Off to the side, a large leather case stands wedged between two of them. Pale lavender walls have been embellished with a myriad of tiny hand-painted images, including flowers, trees, stars, and a variety of animals. No space has been left clear of decoration, making the overall effect fussy and a little distracting. Windows facing onto the street are covered with elaborately beaded curtains, and a hodgepodge of mismatched furniture pieces fills the room, leaving just a few narrow passageways through the neatly ordered clutter. The parlor has been painted a bright, sunny yellow, and several swags of dried flowers adorn the walls, adding to the general cheeriness of the room. A pair of overstuffed chairs flanks a small table near the far wall, and a silk-upholstered divan faces them, completing the cozy room. You also see a lace-covered sideboard with some stuff on it.

The wide hearth houses the banked embers of the day's fire, generating little heat and casting low shadows across the small room. A simple wooden table stands in the center of the room with a pair of trestle benches flanking it. A tall pantry near the hearth holds an assortment of dried herbs, baked goods, and cooking implements.

Neatly whitewashed walls sharply contrast with the blue moth-eaten cushions and curtains which provide the only splash of color in the room. A low, white-upholstered sofa provides a somewhat dusty place to sit and observe the folks that wander into this seemingly empty abode.

Simple pewter sconces placed evenly along the walls break the monotony of the pure white paint used in this dining area. In the far corner, a white stone stand holds a tall pewter vase with concentric etchings which holds the remnants of what was once a vibrant rose bouquet. A neatly made oaken bed dressed with a simple white quilt edged with blue is the focal point of this quiet chamber. Two well-worn braided rugs adorn the floor on each side of the bed, one with a forgotten pair of boots still resting on it. You also see a metal-banded oak trunk and a faded blue-painted dresser with some stuff on it.

[Piercing Beauty, Main Room]
Plaster covered walls display artistic swirls and flourishes, the surface polished to a high sheen. The plaster itself was tinted to a warm shade of cinnamon before it was applied, making the room welcoming and cozy. Neatly draped counters and displays are covered in plush black velvet, displaying the finely wrought jewelry to advantage. You also see a mirrored jewelry display stand with some stuff on it and a gold-edged vellum note.

Whitewashed wainscoting covers the bottom half of the walls, setting off the brilliant crimson paint above it and making it more vivid. Large, abstract watercolors boasting a wildflower theme bring a breath of the outdoors to the cramped quarters. An apothecary's desk built of polished golden oak boasts countless tiny drawers that hold hooks, wire, earring backings, and all the other implements required to make fine jewelry. You also see a steep narrow-treaded staircase.

Thick tapestries faded to muted shades cover the granite block walls of this modest vestry, and a lone crumpled tapestry, half fallen from its supports, pools in a shadowed corner. Framed between scorched half-round columns beneath a pair of lancet windows, a row of haon pegs holds a selection of habiliments surprisingly well preserved against decay and rot.

[A Pious Habit, Storage]
Heavy stone blocks are shrouded in a layer of dust that covers the floor in a haze. The recent passage of footprints scribes a cleaner path between the ladder leading to the hatched door overhead and various shelves. A heavy haon-bound chest has been set right in the middle of the room, as if to deliberately block further passage. Some ambitious soul has made it past, as evidenced by the trailing ends of broken cobwebs and a begrimed overturned trunk behind the chest.

This room is an autumnal haven, its decor providing a tribute to the time of the season. This small room has been made into a cozy hideaway. Panels of sheer fabric in fall hues are draped from corner to corner across the ceiling, each panel overlapping another. On a table next to a brown suede sofa sits a glass mosaic oil lamp, giving the room a warm light. On the wall opposite a deep golden curtain is a mural of the town of Velathae, an autumn scene from a bygone time. You also see an etched brass sign.

[A Simple Wooden Hut]
Although the walls and ceiling of the hut are thin and rickety, this room is immaculately clean. A soft glow from two lamps brightens the room and a cheerful fire crackles away in the tiny fireplace. The plank floorboards are covered by faded rugs, thin and colorful as tapestries. You also see a large oaken table with some stuff on it and a small wooden chest.

[A Simple Wooden Hut]
A light whitewash covers the walls and floor in this room, adding to the light feel of the room. Two lamp globes are in opposite corners bathing the tables underneath in a warm glow. Pillows that have lost their down cover the floor in the corners. You also see a beautiful golden tapestry, a wooden crossbow rack with some stuff on it and a dusty oak bow rack with some stuff on it.

This narrow ell extends back from the main room, giving workers some respite from the stench of the tanning vats there. A few small windows near the rafters let in a dank breeze, but their surfaces are too grimy to add to the dim illumination. A workbench runs along one side nearly the length of the room, its top littered with scraps of leather, banding, and scales. Finished work hangs in an ironwood wardrobe and a shallow closet along the other wall. You also see a piece of mounted leather serving as a sign.

Beneath the shelves, a long glass-topped counter boasts a neat arrangement of display boxes of various size. A thick flower and leaf motif woolen rug spans the area between the counter and an inclined tea leaf case situated just below a large stained glass window. In a shadowed corner, a frost-lined icebox stands alone, a blanket of mist clinging to the air above it.

Once the tea has steeped, serve and enjoy!

Feathery patterns of green and black are painted across the dark blue silk that covers the walls. Gold and red dapples the darker hues in places, hinting at autumn leaves amidst a forest of evergreens. The tall archway in the southern wall is partially draped with a pale gauze curtain. A narrow staircase hugs the north wall, though a bronze chain is stretched across it. Hygiene and order are concepts long abandoned in this dark and dirty hovel. Unusable cots and stretchers are piled against the far wall in a tangle of splintered wooden legs and stained fabric. A shelf teeters dangerously, its dubious contents threatening to spill onto the mold-dappled stone floor. Resting near an uncovered drain is a rotting wooden box, its top ripped open. You also see a very informative sign, a little note and a dirt splattered door.

The look of this little front room is far from gloomy, if you look beyond the dust and cobwebs. There are several chairs sitting in a circle with a small ironwood tea table in the middle. In one corner is a tall pole that holds three large white orbs, each giving off a soft glow that showers the room in light. In another corner is an ironwood coatrack with an ancient mirror attached. You also see a low wooden table with some stuff on it and some dusty rafters with some stuff on it.

This room is grand in scale compared to the tiny entrance room. On the far wall, there is a huge fireplace made of large blue and green hued river stones. On either side of the fireplace are large windows which are intact, surprisingly. The amount of dirt and grime on the windows makes it look as if the day is permanently gloomy outside. You also see a dusty wooden table with some stuff on it and some dusty rafters with some stuff on it.

There are two large stoves set up in the center part of this kitchen. Rafters crisscross the ceiling, allowing plenty of room to hang herbs to dry. Tables made of ironwood are built-in on three of the four walls. Mortars and pestles are set up on the tables in varying sizes, as are finely made bags and colorful bottles. You also see a dusty low table with some stuff on it and a dusty long table with some stuff on it.

This small area has been set up to act as a receiving room, with a nicely carved coat rack displaying one musty-looking wool cloak. A couple of faded braided rugs and a rusting, but once attractive wrought metal sconce further add a homey feeling all around.

This room of the cottage has been transformed into a veritable shop. Several benches have been placed along two of the walls and appear to be used for trying on the footware for sale in the various displays. You also see some wobbly shelves with some stuff on it and a wooden placard tacked to the wall.
