You see a small scale mounted in an open case. A bronze balance beam has a tray resting on one end and a sliding weight is mounted on the other side of the beam. Numbers are engraved on the beam and read right to left starting at zero and ending at 150.

[name] tickles a paguur paw with a feather. The paw twitches slightly, then, as he continues to tickle it, opens reflexively, releasing its grip upon the lid of the iron box.

a dull walrus-hide haversack

a large walrus hide case dyed a rich ebony hue
The image of a crouching panther stalking a graceful unicorn beneath a full Katamba moon has been stitched onto the forefront of this overlarge case. Tumbled malachite beads form the panther's eyes, stitched in place with dark thread that blends skillfully with the leather beneath.

Closer inspection reveals the ragged twine to be in fact an intricately braided rope woven from strips of canvas and well-tanned hide. Highly polished uncut rubies have been placed into the eye sockets, making a sinister caricature of this rustic instrument.

Colorful fishing flies tied from the feathers of exotic birds have been strung onto the lengths of fishing line forming the satchel's strap. Almost as an afterthought, a bleached creppo skull has also been attached to one side so as to swing freely with the wearer's every movement.

The chamois cloth is a square of fabric used to clean instruments.

Hanging from long leather thongs at the base of each strap are walrus teeth of all shapes and sizes, secured in place by colorful red and blue beads strung on heavy black thread.

Large rib bones, cleaned and oiled to protect it from the elements, form the curving arms of the lyre while a shorter carved tusk supports it as the crossbar. Carved into the tusk is a crude stylization of hunters chasing a walrus.

Painted upon the side of the pouch is an albatross in flight over crashing ocean surf.

Lacey silver and gold lines crisscross the surface of the egg, showing it to be formed from the carefully reassembled pieces left behind by a baby penguin as it newly greeted the world. A finely etched silver feather clings gently to the side, forming the mouthpiece.

Carved into the stock is the image of a jet black wolf, howling at a full silver moon. Padded risers have been added to reduce noise as it is fired.

Along the flap of the quiver, three buttons are securely attached -- a green jade tree centered between an onyx raccoon and an obsidian wolf.

The arrow is crafted so the tail with tiny silvery flights is the back of the earring and the front has the narrow diamond head, so it could look as though it's been shot through the earlobe when worn.

The shape of a stately albatross has been lightly burned into the soft velvet, creating a silhouette that appears darker than the longer threads of the surrounding fabric. Crystalline beads, strung onto the threads used to stitch the pouch together, wink where touched by the light.

The stately bird has been lightly burned into the soft velvet, making it appear darker than the surrounding cloth. Crystalline beads wink where touched by the light from where they have been strung onto the stitching forming the pouch.

Heavy silver buckles, carved to resemble crescent moons cradling delicate snowflakes, accentuate the silver threads shot through the wide silken strap. Backed in heavy wool, the strap has been clearly designed with the wearer's comfort in mind.

Tiny crystal blocks have been carefully joined together to form a perfect miniature of a domed jeolzindu. An archway on one side forms the entrance to the small structure. A piece of parchment is glued to the bottom of the jeolzindu.
A faded parchment on the bottom of the jeolzindu reads, "Crystal Jeolzindu"

The toy herring is crafted from silken scales, each silvery iridescent in color with hints of pearly white, blue, purple, green, and yellow. Its sides are freckled with tiny black spots which contrast with the silvery scales.

Oversized for a toy, the frost giant appears as though it could be a very intimidating beast indeed except for the oddly kind look on its face. The puppet is draped in tiny furs, blending into its long curly beard.

A comical-looking creature, the walrus has two ivory tusks sticking out from underneath a heavy drape of thick whiskers. The body of the toy is crafted from finely cured walrus leather, giving it a realistic look.

Covered with coarse brown and black fur over its felt body, the fur seal is a funny-looking creature. Tiny whiskers cover its cheeks set just below two polished onyx eyes.

A realistic miniature of its live counterpart, the meshor fox is crafted from a soft white fur, perfect down to every detail including tiny ivory teeth in its mouth. Two curled little ears poke out from the top of the head, just over two onyx bead eyes.

Tiny crystal icicles have been attached to the fur of the toy hiro bear making it look as though it has been out hunting in a snowy region. Onyx claws have been secured in each paw of the bear, making it appear stunningly realistic.

Soft grey fuzzy felt has been stitched together forming the body of the penguin, while a black and white hood forms its head. A tiny onyx beak has been fitted onto its face, matching the polished onyx eyes.

Though worn with the years, the images embossed in the satchel's leather are still recognizable. A peddler carrying a large pack, a weary trader leading a well-laden yak, and a lone merchant walking beside an ox-drawn caravan all circle around a large brass clasp. Formed in the shape of a seven pointed star, the clasp is tarnished and worn but still functional.

A single large piece of crystal has been exquisitely carved into the shape of a human skull. A pair of large faceted rubies have been set in place of eyes, while platinum and sapphire earrings have been attached to the sides. There seems to be a slight indentation on the top of the skull.

Carved in bold relief, a trader can be seen trudging alongside his well-laden caravan. The intricate details show the trader's expression of weariness, the rickety wheels of the caravan, the hodge-podge of crates and bundles loaded onto the wagon, and even the cracks in the hooves of the team of oxen.

Both seem intent upon playing with a small gem held in the penguin's hands, depicted here by a silvery moonstone in a silver setting that has been riveted to the soft leather.

Even lines have been stitched upon each side of the flute case, reinforcing the stiffened leather.

A variety of brown and grey dyes have been swirled into the fine glass, crafted with a master artisan's skill into the shape of bright eyed wrens sitting upon ghostly morning glory vines. Fine silver and felt keys have been fitted over each of the holes, subtly shaped to form the blooming flowers hanging from each vine.

This hexagonal case has six sides paneled in polished grey granite, two larger and four smaller, while an additional two sides crafted from layers of snowbeast hide form the case's top and bottom. With the softness of the hide and the silver-bordered panels of granite, the case itself holds the vague appearance of a drum.

Pale green, brown, and grey braided silk cords lash the tanned skin in place atop each of the tabla. Small crystalline beads have been strung upon the conical tabla's ties, giving the fine silk the resemblance of a spider's web sprinkled with morning dew.

Silver and garnet beads have been threaded onto a central strip of rawhide running through the braided shoulder strap, carefully positioned upon the outside so as not to dig into the shoulder of the wearer. Large silver buckles, carved into a circular crest depicting a phoenix being chased by a panther, secure the strap in place.

A tall white tower backed upon the fading rays of a blushing sunset has been painted onto the fine coat of white lacquer forming the facing of the psaltery's top panel. Elegant gates, facing the four compass points, serve as the only egress from the city, though even these gates are dwarfed by the four towers standing like sentinels along the walls between them. A line of script has been inscribed in silver upon the areas of the city that have already been touched by shadow.
A white birch psaltery reads:
"Sleep quiet, elegant Shard, ever watchful against the Shadow without and within."

A crescent moon backed by a blazing sunburst has been engraved onto each side of the pick.

a pair of white feathered wings dusted with flecks of silver
The snowy feathers are soft but sturdy, and firmly attached to their base. The silver dust sprinkled atop them catches any available light, causing the wings to sparkle faintly.

The light blue velvet is patterned with dancing snowflakes across the body of the cloak. A thick layer of fur provides warmth and comfort even in the harshest of elements.

Fashioned from one piece of cloth folded in the middle and sewn together, the robe's fabric is decorated by a zigzag of geshiloira flowers on the sleeves, drawing attention away from the unhemmed ends.

Tiny diamonds, each perfectly faceted, have been painstakingly inset into the gold of the ring to form the image of an open hand reaching out to provide comfort, a wreath of healing herbs resting in the palm.

Sticky yellow glue remains where a label once was. The vial is stoppered with a large cork and is half filled with bubbly blue-green liquid.

Each healing herb, from jadice flowers to yelith roots, is carved in meticulous miniature detail along the spiral of the armband.

The button has a little rubbable dial that changes the wording from "On-duty" to "Off-duty". The button is in new condition.

An image has been embroidered in meticulous detail in the center of the apron -- a cow and a unicorn stand shoulder to shoulder, while an adder slithers in the grass around their feet.

Tiny grey and brown specks in the wool give it the appearance of being sprinkled with sand from a distant shore.

An elaborate pattern of falling leaves has been tooled onto both sides of the dark leather cover. As you peer closer, you notice a pair of eyes peeking from amongst them, and the faint outline of a raccoon's mask picked out by the cleverly placed edges of the leaves.

Stained in a light mist grey hue upon the birch panels forming the case's sides is the image of a glorious phoenix in flight superimposed over the stylized letters, "K. A.".

Diamond-shaped azurite chips are inlaid at regular lengths along the polished silver bands forming the fitted joins between the sections of birch. Etched along each of the small silver bands holding the reeds of the double-chambered wind instrument in place is a delicate line of script.

Silver and garnet beads have been threaded onto a central strip of rawhide running through the braided shoulder strap, carefully positioned upon the outside so as not to dig into the shoulder of the wearer. Large silver buckles, carved into a circular crest depicting a phoenix being chased by a panther, secure the strap in place.

An elegant cutwork wolf, depicted to be sitting as it howls at a full moon, forms a decorative sound hole above the arched frets of the rebec. Encircling it is engraved a simple line of blocky script.

Darkly stained silhouettes along the bow's length pick out a pattern of falling leaves beneath a laid-back crescent moon.

Carved to resemble small deer, wolves, and an albatross, small wooden charms hang from the linen cords meant to close the pouch.

Carved into the handles of each of the highly polished oak spoons is a wren perched upon a fisted gauntlet over a lute, the crest of the Bards' Guild. Darkly stained circles frame the crest in an uneven pattern. Turning over each spoon reveals an identical crest carved upon the opposite side, followed by a legend in bold script.

"Idon give me the strength to persevere beyond my foes."
